"when i was 15, i recognized that there were two kinds of music. There was the kind that was made by and for people who liked clothes, dancing, and chatting up the opposite sex. That was not the kind i listened to.
The rest of us listened to music by and for people who didn't fit in. We scattered to find something that rejected the romantic slow jams, the slick fashion, or the dance moves that composed the music of Top 40 radio. For some, it was Goth or punk or the safe haven of our older brother's classic rock. But it was all a different form of conformity. I got caught up in the heavy metal crowd, conveniently ignoring the idea that ripped jeans and concert t-shirts were just as much a uniform as anything worn by the cool crowd i ran from. Violent Femmes saved me. There was no membership card, dress code or initiation ceremony. They didn't require us to be angry, in awe of them, to look like them, to talk like them. They were so completely on their own, they were scene-less..."- Marc Salata- Rhino Products Management

when i read that, i totally identified with this cat. I reached that idea when i was 15, and got sucked into a world of punk rock conformity and the occasional bust out of heavy metal or hip hop. Conform conform conform. Never did i come to find my own music, or my own opinion, even with bands like Smashing Pumpkins or Radiohead, the ones i only listened to because my friends did. I hated Kid A and Amnesiac, why? because my friends did.
But the Violent Femmes didn't save me. Eisley did. There is a membership card, but only if you want to frequent the forum. haha. None of us seem the same, we all seem like a mix, a large group of misfits, well, maybe not misfits, though we'll just settle on the term to save time. We aren't required to be angry, in awe of them or anything, and i don't know if you noticed, but they are pretty damn scene less, being so friggin unique. So i just felt i should say that Eisley is to me as the Violent Femmes were to mr. Salata. And maybe, just maybe, this full length will be as much of a classic as the Violent Femmes first full length. I could see it happening

i totally agree. i never wore the ripped jeans, or hate music cause my friends di, i hated music cause it sucks. and baggy pants are my uniform, but i dont know any type of music that fits in with. eisley, and the great fourm, has shown me that its ok to be yourself, and not let other, very opinionated people, tell you what to like.
