um... look again... definately not a comparison. simply telling of nigel's talent, seeing how eisley (and me, and pretty much anyone else) would really like to work with him. yeah. _________________ rest in my arms sleep in my bed theres a design to what i did and said piccysssssss |

a good example of what I mean is Sunny Day Real Estate's "The Rising Tide". Great production on that album IMHO. Like Stacy I'm a Nigel Godrich freak - lately I've been listening quite a bit to Beck's "Sea Change", and I'm amazed at what Godrich was able to do with those songs (they retain their intimacy, yet have this epic quality, especially "Lonesome Tears"). I think Eisley was able to get the same kind of sound, especially on I Wasn't Prepared and Telescope Eyes. i don't care too much for The Rising Tide production. for one, the bass is missing. Enigk played the bass on it too and you have to strain to make out his good bass parts......i prefer HIFTBSO...........i like Godrich too.................if they could get him that would be awesome......the Strokes are dumb for dropping him......it would be nice to hear what came out of that.............i think i like Mutations better than Sea Change though.........but if you notice......a lot of Godrich's songs have little synths and odd noises and from looking at the Sea Change liner notes, he does a lot of that _________________ I am Torgo. I wasn't trying to compare Beck's album to Eisley's EP. I was using it merely as an example of the style of production I like. If anything, the fact that Eisley were able to utilize a couple of the same studio techniques effectively - particularly given the fact this is their first official release - is quite impressive. _________________ "To whom much is given, much is required." |

Yah.. I think becks album is great too. Nigel is a killer producer. On the ep. well, first of all I'd like to say that I too am really proud of the band, Its a great ep, and I have listened to it like 10 times since I got it yesterday. The producing kinda threw me at first cos It was just different than I am used to hearing the songs. Now that I listen, I think it sounds tons better than ep2. I wasn't prepared was produced real simple, which I think really fits the song, and brings out the melodys and vocals. Telescope eyes is a great song, though its probably my least favorite production wise. I think the intro is cool, but I didn't really care for the fade out. The instruments sound good though. Tree tops is great, The drums are cool on that.. heck everything is, I think. Over the mountains really grew on me. At first I kinda missed the cool intro stacy does live, but I know that depeneding on the producer and things, that it doesn't always work in the studio to do stuff like that. I noticed that the wierd keyboard noise in the bridge is missing too, but the guitars are clearer and sound really cool like that. Laughing city is my favorite though, and I think it's just cos I am a sucker for strings. that, and its a good song. so there it is.. there are my thoughts on the production. It doesn't really matter that much though, cos If the band always did exactly what I expected, then they'd get kind of boring, and the ep is great. _________________ are you a member of the slaves to their members? |

It is always refreshing to have a person who doesn't like the EP. Sometimes, it gets boring when there are a zillion posts saying "EISLEY'S EP IS THE BEST!~!" ya know? That being said, I couldn't disagree with you more. A lot of the posts before this one state reasons why much better than I ever could. Anyway, I think that the EP is really good and a great disc to build upon. I can't wait for the full-length (whenever that is)! _________________ Hello my name is CHRIS and... |

I got the ep. I think it's great... I was sad that Mister pine wasn't on there... even though i knew it wasn't... I think alot of my fave Eisley songs are ones they haven't recorded yet... so i'll have to wait for those.. i just hope none of them go away... but we're talking about the EP... which I do really like... i too am saddened by the change in Telescope Eyes... but i knew about it from seeing them at Tea room... It just sounds less like anything they have ever written... but i kinda like the fade... And i fell in love with Laughing City.. the song .. today on my way home... it's never been a fave, an dnow it is! So i think it's great! I'm excited for them! and it was so great to just walk in a store a pic up the cd off the shelf there with everything else.... love, love, love.... i heart Eisley!!! _________________ sometimes i write in here... http://www.xanga.com/dpwrchick |
