no sheryl crow isn't doing any producing. but we're gonna get together with her producer and see if he fits with us. i can't remember his name. warner bros. has been courting him for a while. apparently he's "hot." he met chauntelle in LA and they talked briefly. he's also produced for fleetwood mac and i wanna say the beach boys but i can't remember. i'm hurting my head trying to remember. anyways we'll probably be doing that sometime in august. we'll see. we would love to get together with the guy from sparklehorse. we think he would totally get our stuff, the way we get it and want others to get it. but thats just one of our dreams. everyone dreams. we'll see what comes along. hmmm... im exhausted. i got about eight hours of sleep total during this weekend...and it was busy one. it seems like most of our weekend relaxing time is during the week. not like there's alot of it anyways. can't wait for monday. |

hot in this case means he's a good producer. i don't think he is very foxy. not from the impression Chauntelle gave me. but i'm gonna stop there. i realize my taste differs from Chauntelle's and i might very well think he's foxy when i meet him. i'll stop there... |

Just be careful of getting "over" produced. I think that can happen easily and you end up losing some of your uniqueness to the "radio" friendly machine... then again... it's about the money too. The band the "The La's" absolutely hated the production of their hit album with "there she goes" on it so much so that it eventually led to their ruin. Erasure's "the innocents" is their biggest hit album and the bands least favorite (produced by Stephan Hague one of my favs and at the time a heavy weight in $$). The Ocean Blue never hit huge but their first album produced by a big time duo Mark Optiz and John Porter (John Porter was in Roxy Music and helped carve the sound of The Smiths and other bands). I talked with the guys of the Ocean Blue(also on Warner) at length about their first album and they actually hated it so bad all their subsequent releases have, for the most part been produced by themselves (mainly their drummer). At the time they said they were thrilled to be working with John Porter and just kind of melted into his process. It’s easy to get swayed. I also had a friend who got signed to Atlantic… they put the hit producer Jellybean (Madonna’s producer for awhile) on his album and it was sooooo bad he couldn’t show his face for awhile. Before that he was actually pretty cool. (Ok I didn’t judge him by his album but man… he asked me to tour with him and I was worried for my own career) Eisley has the potential to really be a force in music. Personally I see it being more in the vein of (not sound but path) of like a U2, New Order Depeche Mode… Years of building up to a pinnacle and even then still doing well. But the wrong producer can burn out the sound. Flood did great with Depeche Mode but blew it on U2. EISLEY BE CAREFUL!!!!! |
