When music writers get a record for review, we almost always get something called a onesheet. This onesheet is often a brief biography of a band, the details of the record in question (tracklisting, producers, themes, etc.) and often some hyperbole that the label or publicity firm or the band thinks will give their record the edge. As I told boyd, writers get a LOT of music, and because of that, they don't always have the luxury of forming a bond with every record we receive. Thus, the onesheet often contains some sort of link to other, bigger bands/scenes/genres, to kind of give the writer some sort of guide as to where the band's record falls musicwise or who they sound like. They often say, 'if you love (insert band name here), then you'll like (insert band name here)'. (In recent years, magazines have started to do this, with the RIYL feature.) So, here's the rainy-day Sunday assignment for today. Let's do this with Eisley. Answer this question as if you were writing Eisley's bio, and after filling in the blank, kinda give a little reason why: if you like Eisley, then you'll love _______. should be an interesting activity for a rainy day like today.... _________________ "Die Sonne scheint noch" -- Sophie Scholl <3 <3 <3 |

My band. Except we don't exist yet. Seriously though, this is a fun little idea, but I honestly can't think of a band that would really fit the criteria I have set in order to place them in such a context. Oh well. _________________ INTELLECT AND ROMANCE OVER BRUTE FORCE AND CYNICISM Smokemonster |

Hmm . . . rainy day questions are great, except for one thing: on rainy days my mind don't work right. Thus my answer to this question is gonna be bad but i'll take a shot and maybe give another answer later. You would probably like Pedro the Lion if you like Eisley, i sure do. peace- berman _________________ The grass is green and the sky is blue My head is clear and my thoughts are true "I wish I could just hug you all, but I'm not gonna" Layne Staley 1967-2002 come read me stuff, some say it's nice |

golly that's hard..the best i can think of is Queen, but just one album(night at the opera), and only, because the songs on that album tell a story like a lot of Eisley songs. That's probably wrong.Oh well -NIQ _________________ chinese food makes me sick |

If you like Eisley, then you'll like OHNO. OHNO's spectacular lyrics and wistful rhythms and sounds make incredibly catchy songs. It may take you a second listen to like them, but if you saw them live first, their stage presence is enough to keep you listening. Plus a beautiful frontman. _________________ If the end of the world has proper noodles I'll probably be okay with it. |
