Were you at home, with a midwife?
I didn't even know you could get painkillers at home with a midwife.
If so, then maybe she did use them. Laughing
Those are some awfully big babies!

Hospital with Chauntelle...had an epidural. (sp?) That was a disaster.
Babies at home...no meds. Much better.
Collin at hospital...asked for demeral (sp?) to slow down the birth, because the midwife I was using was going off duty, and the doctor intern that was taking over, had just finished his 3rd C-section for the day, and was looking at me as number 4!
Interns have to get a certain number of c-sections done, in order to move on in their internship to become a doctor.

Boyd drew a picture of him with a gun holster belt around his waist, with spinning exacto blades! I still have it somewhere.

I wasn't about to let that guy touch me, so, we asked for something to slow the labor down until morning so that the midwife would be back on duty. It worked! yeah!

As for finding a midwife that your insurance will cover at home?....that may be impossible. It is very rare for insurance companies to cover midwife deliveries. If they are a registered nurse midwife, and if you go to their home facility, sometimes they will cover that.

Check your local hospitals and see if they have any midwifes on staff.
Insurance will cover those, but, that's usually luck of the draw. If you happen to deliver while a midwife is there, you can request a midwife.
At least that is the way they do it here in Tyler, TX.

what is an epidural? does that speed up the birth (cause a demural seems to slow it down)?

what is a midwife? does she have a midwife degree?

i was reading this thread and didnt really understand what those are.

Oh Matt... you have much to learn.

An epidural is something they use during labor to help ease the pain. A big needle is used to put a catheter in place. The drug is injected into the catheter. The tube is taped in place so you can move without dislodging it.

An epidural is what most women have while giving birth. It numbs you from the waist down so you feel no pain (ideally).

A midwife is a woman who helps you deliver your baby. It is for women who want to have a natural birth without a doctor coming in and telling everyone what to do and when to do it. Alot of times when labor is induced or c-sections (when they cut you open and take out the baby) are performed, it's not medically necessary, but convenient or safer for the doctor. Having a midwife is more like going back to the old way of having a baby, when women were in control and knew what to do. Birth is a natural process, and a lot of people forget that.

I think twins are usually smaller.
But wow, you were tiny.

It really was kinda odd the way they jumped around with the poundage.

Chauntelle 9lb. 6oz.
Sherri 8lb. 8oz.
Weston 11lb.
Stacy 12lb.
Christie 8lb. 6oz. (i think)
Collin 10lb. 2 oz.

Weston was the only one with the freakish umbilical cord. I think that is why he got so tall! Laughing Laughing Laughing

Chauntelle and Collin were the only two born in the hospital. All of my kid's were born with midwife's, except Chauntelle. I figured out really quick after having her in the hospital with a male doctor, that it should be against the law for men to deliver babies. (not to offend anyone if that's what you do), it's just been my opinion, and experience, that, women doctors, and especially midwifes are the best option.

With Collin, I was blessed to have him in the hospital with a registered nurse midwife. That was the best scenario, because you are in the hospital if something goes wrong, but, have the midwife's way of doing things.

Hey, isn't this great gossip for one of the next RS issues on Eisley? It goes right along with their parents being hippies, and them being raised without indoor plumbing Laughing Rolling Eyes

Ooh, I can make her a vegetarian pizza, with yummy fake cheese, pepperonis and italian sausage! I just made one the other night, and let me tell you it was Guuuuuuud!

The Cheesecake though, I have no substitute for. You just can't make cheesecake without the real deal. I am strong enough in my vegan beliefs to admit to that. Crying or Very sad

How bout a yummy smoothie, or some fresh fruit salad?
