man what was up with the sound guy? The first 3 or 4 songs of Eisley's set were so out of wack they were barely recognizable ( I was in the balcony ). There was a lot of feedback too, I could see Chantelle (sp?) getting kind of frustrated with her guitar/amp(s). All the technical stuff finally came togather for the last song ( Tree Tops ) . I would say the techs redeemed themselves with Tree Tops cause it sounded perfect. If only their whole set sounded as good as that one song. The entire Old97's set sounded dead on so go figure.

Sound issues aside, I thought the show was great. The first band, Cordelaine(sp?), was pretty freakin good. Eisley rocked as usual. They had a violin player in the band this time which was cool. I can't remember, but I think his name was Jesse <somebody>. Eisley played the radio version of Telescope Eyes which makes sense seeing how it was an Edge party. They got a lot of cheers and even the guy from Old97's said they were " f*cking awesome!". The old97's were good as well, I have never heard them before. They put on a good show and I was having fun even though I'm not a big fan of their type of music.

After Old97's and their 5+ song encore I walked downstairs and picked up Eisley's EP2 CD. A big thanks to Chantelle and the others for hanging out and bearing the heat until the wee hours of the morning. I know yall had to be exhausted.

btw, special thanks to Chantelle for signing my CD :)

I'll have to agree with you.....the first 4 or 5 songs sounded pretty bad....the girls vocals were drowned out by a bass that was way too loud, it was really muddy. That sound guy was pretty lame...i think Boyd was back there to help fix it. It was corrected somewhat by the end, but overall, the sound was mediocre and not anywhere near as good-sounding as the show at Trees earlier this summer. Why is that? Same place, same band? Weird. The band's performance was good though...Weston especially!
The lighting looked really great!

Odd. I went to both shows and thought everything sounded a lot better this time.

I was in the front at both shows, maybe it's some difference there. I only noticed one time when there was a problem with sound during eisley's set.

It was really awful during Cordelane, though. That and they didn't have the singer's mic up enough.

I highly recommend CORDELANE. I only got to hear the last one and a half songs. but thought they had a great sound.
I bought their cd.
We wish them the best of success!

Man, what an amazing show!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I thought all the bands were great. I got there about haldway through Cordelane's show. I was blown away by how good they were. The next guy (Peter) was also great. I had only heard him a few times before and he was better this time. Eisley were perfect as usual. The Old 97s were a lot of fun too. Everyone we went with had a great time, and a sweaty time too. On the way out I saw Josh and congratulated him. He seemed so happy and said lots of nice things about all the bands too. This is one of the best concerts I've been to. Yay for Eisley, the AC, Cordelane, Peter and the 97s!!!!!!!

Sound.... yes. Particularly distressing. Nothing gets me more upset. But did you notice they made the headliner sound huge?

but THANKS for the nice reviews anyway...ya'll are super nice.

(back to the angry part...grrrr....) I was back there -so dang frustrated... I asked Russell several times what was wrong? "it's not sounding good...what's wrong?.....voices are muddy....I need more volume on vox's"....I couldn't bring Stacy up in the house. I had her slider pegged at the top...when I asked him why, he said, "bring everything else down"... like to match her level, but....Sherri was plenty loud and I had tons of head room. The eq was bad, the voices were muffled, but everything was feeding back - especially the violin - so we had to keep pulling it back. I was angry. Not really at Russell. He's super nice to us and would do anything for the band. I'm not sure what was going on but it wasn't good. Why the heck did the headliner sound like a million dollars....it's not gear. Eisley has top of the line gear... It was a big opportunity for Eisley and I felt like the sound issues pulled down their show to about half the impact. oh well.

But, on a cool note, Scott Beggs, who books for Trees and Gypsy Tea room aproached me and told me he thinks Eisley is ready to headline Trees and wants our agent to call him. He said, "we'll broaden the age and lower the ticket to $8 -10...I think you'll be suprised at the turnout".
I thought that was nice. I'm not sure when this might be. Personally I think we're starting to oversaturate in Dallas. I think we will chill for a good while....time to go to the rest of the country.....(this Fall). I'm not baiting anyone. I'm serious and you'll probably agree. Too much press..to much exposre...too much radio? (nahhhhh....)

btw. Blender hit Barnes and Nobel today...should be on the shelf tomorrow. Eisley feature - Thom York on the cover. (woo-hooo!) I guess it'll be out everywhere by tomorrow...not sure. Hastings gets their shipment tomorrow.

Today was me and Kim's 24th Anniversary. woah. Pretty cool, huh? We went out on a hot date and then went to look for Eisley reviews. We ran into friends (about 4 in B&N who thought we were funny...but then they freaked when when we showed them stuff on the shelf...) These are 17 - 20 year olds, of course....our peers. We don't have any friends our age.

Leave for UK in a 2 days. gunite. bd

first of all congratulations on the anniversary! Secondly, best of luck in the UK!

You know I was trying to figure out why the 97's sounded so good and Eisley not so good. Do you think it had something to do with the number of instruments? Including the violin there were 6 instruments I wonder if the Tree's sound sys. can handle that kind of load. Most of the bands I have seen at Tree's only have like 2-3 guitars, drums and maybe one or two mics.

Please don't make us go the whole Fall without any local Eisley shows. If you play anywhere I can drive to in a day I'm there but "the rest of the country" has me worried :P Honesty though whatever is good for the band I'm behind 100%.

I'm working on a Eisley music video ( kind of a hobby of mine ) and I have a fan site scheduled to go live in a couple of weeks. I'm hoping to get back to work on it and finish the site and start *real* work on the video as soon as I get back in town, my job has me in GA and NC till the end of the week. I'm actually sitting in a hotel in Charlotte right now.

anyway, rock those folks on the other side of the pond :)

Well....ok, now that one person said they should play more in Dallas...OK, we will....shucks. (just kidding)

One thing is for sure...that full length has to be made. So, the recording is a huge priority. (over local shows) Since the recording can't happen locally...we have to be gone for months - somewhere.

So right after we do this "skip across the pond", the band has an "in-store" at Waterloo in Austin (like, we return on the 18th and that weekend is it's on the 21st, I think) as well as a live radio show.

Then it's back to LA or...actually Seattle for some producing with Aaron Sprinkle (Tooth and Nail - Starflyer, Pedro and much - much more) We're huge fans of Aaron's solo work and his producing is extremely broad....he's a monster and will rule the producing world one day. Of course, everyone knows that Rob is the man...the legend and rocks our faces off also.

Anyway, then maybe back to LA for stuff. Also, top secret stuff...(shhhh) Nigel got an eisley package also. We know it's a long shot...but hey, you can't NOT make a submission to Nigel, right? Why am I posting this in a blog...I should make it global. oh well...shhhh... if he turns them down flat, it's ok; As long as Stacy knows that he listened, she will be able to sleep at night. She's been dreaming of Nigel producing their music for years now. We send QT movies, live stuff, stuff tracked from the board on the Coldplay tour, the new Rob stuff, the indie stuff, Laughing City, a cassette tape with 14 songs recorded by Stacy and Sherri on the funmaker Wulitzer, and the 14 live songs they tracked with Rob. So....that covers it. He either likes it or doesn't.

Me and Kim are both on computers so it's like we're spending time with each other...she's right there. I can see her. And we have some cheese cake to eat....and Josian Holland is here hanging out...and he and Chauntelle and Weston just went over to Tim and Deanda's house to hang...and Stacy is chatting...and...THIS....(long pause) IS MY XANGA!....

Thanks Eisley for letting Jesse hang out with you and be a famous rock star for a day. He had so much fun (even though he couldn't hear himself and neither could anyone else). The audience was great and Weston really helped calm his nerves. He is not worthy!

I have to say that the new songs are great. I can't get them out of my head. Seriously - thanks alot! I will probably go mad and cut off my ear trying to get "Sea King" out of my head. You guys are on a whole new level !!!!! Keep up the great work.

Thanks again

I just wanted to thank you Eisley kids for giving us "Adventure Clubers" such a great show and for letting me take pictures with ya'll (Chauntelle and Weston). That was seriously the first concert I have ever been to where every band in the show was totally awesome. It was also the first night my sister had heard ya'll, besides hearing "Telescope Eyes" on the radio, and she was so amazed at how incredible you guys (and girls) were. Ya'll instantly made a new fan out of her that night. Thanks again for the great experience.-Tyler
