I was just wondering... why is 'board' as in this forum, and 'board' as in a piece of wood spelled the same... but 'bored' as in not stimulated is spelled different?

Why am I even thinking this?

or better yet....

Why am I posting this on this particular board/bored?

Because "board" like this is short for "messageboard," which was actually originally a board of wood that people tacked notes onto, back in the stone age.... (1993)
