Well??

So much expectation obviously has built up to this day... the uncertainty about what "golly sandra" was going to sound like is now gone, as well as for the other tracks. As for TE, I am relieved as i had prepared myself for the worst.. it's not particularly sappy .

One thing is for sure, this is much different sounding than the EP's, much less dreamy,.. the songs have a radio feel to them although nothing structurally has really changed about them. Less chrome, more speed.... I'm not sure whether I should be glad or sad.... it seems like the label did their worst to make the songs commercial, but it seems like the songs survived it... or did they? After 10 listens or so each i'm still not sure.

I guess it's time for me to start biting my tongue Smile

I've listened to this CD many, many times since it was mastered, and, I love every song!
I know I am really close to this, so, how can I be objective, right?
But, I really am not that kind of mom.
I've always been the kind to bring the truth to my kids, no matter how bad it was going to hurt.

I think this album is amazing, but, you can write me off as "the mom" Rolling Eyes

Bottom line for me is, I would be more than willing to wait another few months for them to go back into the studio and rerecord the songs.

ive only heard golly sandra, te, and lost@sea, and i think that boid guy said that the TE on emerge isn't the L.a. version(im prolly wrong)

Although I do like the original versions better, I'm not sad that they turned out how they did, cuz I still have the original versions of the songs, and can listen to them whenever I want.

i think it's interesting how much songs can change, and yet stay the same

did I say that the T.E. version on E-merge wasn't the same as on the LP?
If i did, i was on drugs... anyway, T.E. isn't a song that eisley really
wanted to redo... i guess it's like the sacrificial radio song. But the speed
grows on you...they like it better but prolly would have been happy to
bury it.

I don't really like the fact that T.E's is on this player really, but...it is.
Golly Sandra and I Wasn't Prepared are sweet tunes.

I really liked what I heard. If there was any fear, it was that it would turn into a polish album. As in it's polished so much that it loses sight that there are supposed to be genuine songs beneath the perfection. Of course, I had faith they'd make an honest and good album. Smile

I really like what I've heard so far.

T.E. has always been my least favorite song...but I know it's a lot of people's favorites, and I know why WB wanted it on there.

i was actually pleased with TE, since i used to dislike it before but this version i actually am ok with... it is my favorite version of the song for sure.

i think there has been a little shock reaction on part of some people, including myself, at how "Polished" or "Plastic" the recordings sound. I think alot of this is possibly from expectations in our minds that have formed from hearing the live versions for so may months on end. I think a little of it is paranoia regarding the big WB machine and its intentions to make Eisley into a commerical TRL band, combined with the fact that there is a little less of that magical eisley element and more of a radio-friendly sound.

however, the songs are still amazing, which is evident since i've listened to them at least 10 times each. and even the production style itself has grown on me. after all... THESE are THEY... these are the final versions of these songs. and i'm ok with that.
Ultimately, there has to be some sense of loss once the final versions of the songs are heard, since one is no longer at liberty to imagine what the songs sound like. i would say that i prefer actually having heard them, which means that i am content with how they turned out.

p.s. first time hearing golly sandra did anyone else think stacy was 6 years old?

Crazy. I don't know what to make of these yet. I'm so used to the lo-fi, live, or EP versions of all those songs that these beautifully-produced versions throw me for a loop. One thing I will admit: the remix of "Lost at Sea" makes me really happy. Please tell me this will be a B-side. Very Happy

EDIT: No matter what I end up thinking of these songs, it's official: I've delayed desperately important homework for another hour listening to the tracks over and over and over. Especially "Golly Sandra."

Im so happy for this record, It sounds amazing. Who cares about if its not indie enough. Eisley isint indie and shouldint be. Sooo good.
The first song I heard eisley play was Telescope Eyes that was almost 4 years ago. Its still not bad to me. Never could be over killed.

FINALLY......someone else who shares my opinion that Eisley is not, should not be, and never has been, "INDIE".......

If WB does their promotion properly, we will see great commercial success for Eisley, who well deserve it!

Golly Sandra is simply amazing. The vocals are stunning. All my expectations for that song have been fulfilled.
