you guys are freakin' awesome. i've been racking my brain over this...it's so cool to hear input from people who really understand and actually get the band. btw. We have been so gone...got home last night around 12:30 or 1:00. They're working on names and will probably check the board today. #1. I agree with the idea of using Moss; so much vested in the name...don't want to estrange anyone. It's weird enough getting sucked into label world, but...the name change at the same time is frightening. But what? Moss Eyes just gives me a weird image of something gross....we're all too close to it. The Moss sounds like The Mobb...not artistic enough. We cant find a variation that fits. MossEisland is cool, but it sounds like you're saying moss island. (stupid) I like Eisley, but it's real feminine...lacking in the front end "em" phonetic sound. I have a long list...we're all working. I suppose we could post them and poll them, but none are that great. It's hard. Also....nobody worry the band isn't going to sell out or have people write their songs. Most all the labels love their stuff and are so hyped right now. You can't begin to imagine what's going on. names! names! defcom level 5. _________________ EisleyWebGuy "The industrialists never saw the fruit of their own labor - Post Moderism, which I now proclaim as dead. To frame it...they need something organically cool that differentiates them from other bands - (because they're different?) so avoid genre name "types" like velvet zero, remi zero, luna halo, pala alto, etc.)...that quickly sends a message to everyone that they're rip-offs. Work on a phonetic sound that means nothing as an excersize...think of the way the band makes you feel...think darkened forest...think altar world.....think of something solid but creative...think anything. HELP!!! Oh, and be prepared not to like what they come up with...or even if one of you comes up with it. why? Because there's no better name than the one you have. (we've already talked it through and feel it's the right thing to do....change is enevitable) It's hard, but everyone will just have to re-adjust their brains. Imagine if you suddenly had to call your "dad"....."beb"....or "dag". How weird. Appreciate you guys. _________________ EisleyWebGuy "The industrialists never saw the fruit of their own labor - Post Moderism, which I now proclaim as dead. Ok, I'm really bad at this. Last night I was thinking of the word "Lucidity." it means, A relaxed state of well-being, clearheaded. I like it for a band-name, but if no one else likes it, that's okay. I think it kind og goes with their music, it's simple and to the point LUCIDITY enjoy, Jeff _________________ If ignorance is bliss then whipe that smile off my face |

hey guys~ so glad everything is going well for ya'll. you're definitely in our prayers. as far as the name goes, oh lord, who knows eh? i hope you get it worked out. i liked mosseisley. it was original. and because of my appreciation for the awesome sound that you guys produce i have noticed (with my expert deductive skills) that this group is very creative, imaginative and exuding with originality. anywho....i digress...my point? only to say that i have full and total confidence that everything will fall into place for you guys. you'll figure out a name and it will be just as original and creative, if not more so, than mosseisley is (was?) i'm sure things are sooo incredibly fast paced right now. ah yes, you're on a natural high right? i love that feeling. congratulations on everything that is happening right now. good luck and God bless..... |

In reference to Bartman - somehow they're pieces of the whole. We need the name to embody the whole. Anything to do with Forest might be good but it's hard to match words with it...nothing rolls off your tounge. Dark Forest Chris from Coldplay suggested "Fir Trees" - (no, not to me...to their management), but it seems too linear to me. Fir is cool. Tree is cool....but not the two together. We're exploring new words/sounds as well - a departure from Moss or Eisley. Everything is still on the table. It could go either way. See you tonight at Tree's if you come. Introduce yourself if we don't know you. ok? cool. boydout _________________ EisleyWebGuy "The industrialists never saw the fruit of their own labor - Post Moderism, which I now proclaim as dead. Lying on a bed of moss in a forest is a nice feeling. Everyone should try it if you can find a good place. East Texas has some. Also, floating on your back a few inches above the ground with your arms hanging down and your fingertips brushing over the grass is a nice feeling too. Places where you can do that are even harder to find, and I like to keep mine a secret. That's all I have to say about the band name. _________________ The day it single with half is done. i think the new name should be "Surrender Dorothy". its what the wicked witch wrote in the sky in the Wizard of Oz. the band seems to be on a yellow brick road of their own...so i thought it was fitting. but maybe having a female name in it would be too confusing? just an idea... |

moth eyes i don't know....my mom came up with that one, and she doesn't even like the music, so i don't know if that would be good. but i like it. and i came up with stuff to support it the reasoning behind it is the moths that have two giant spots on their wings, and when they open them, it likes like two eyes looking up. these eyes scare away predators and other evil things. a good parallel is that they have some always watching over them and protecting them from harm. just like God protects and watches over us, "there's One who cares for me today" oh well _________________ there are many things you can be in life. lazy isn't one of them. www.xanga.com/just_a_pianoplayer |

i like lucidity... i think thats how it was spelled. cool jeff. i also though andrews names suggestions were pretty creative. children of the vending machine... lol. cool though. ive been in the back seat of a van all day and havent really thought about names. what about the green lantern. i think thats a really greesy restraunt here in toledo, but its not a big chain or anything. i dont really have my thinking cap on right now. _________________ are you a member of the slaves to their members? |
