'Twas my first live experience with Eisley. I was very impressed with band. THe house engineer did a good job for the most part although the music seemed to get louder through the set. It was apparent via Stacy looking to have difficulty hearing herself. Perhaps it was one of those-because the drummer decides to play louder then everyone must turn up and the onstage noise is the worst enemy for vocalists. Still sounded great. But wait, let's talk about the folks-Mom and Dad Eisley. I got to the croc before doors opened and got to witness the hurry-scurry of the merch set up and last minute things. I pictured the dad to be this huge HeMan kinda dude (not as buff tho) with kinda long post-80's rocker kinda hair. However, my eyes were stunned to see this medium tall approachable lookin' dude in a coat i think i owned back in 1982 whip the Eisley youngins into shape. No, he was pretty cool so was mom. I could feel the family love. I talked with her for about 30 mins which seemed like 5. SHe's real-the kind of mom all church kids need to keep from being raised Sunday actors and Rush Limbaugh worshippers (I bet she would have explained why I couldn't have any Poison or Bon Jovi tapes, before she'd buy me Kenny Rogers and the Beach Boys. Yes, those were the first tapes bought for me, and for some reason those were somehow considered "safe" by Baptist standards.). Speaking of, I am quite fond of the Beach Boys. That leads me to say that I couldn't help but get a Brian Wilson vibe from Stacy. All the kids are talented but for some reason I find the most in her. Her drawings are very cool and weird at the same time. Not sure if they're more weird than cool nonetheless, I went home with a lithograph. Thanks Stacy. And nice accoustic song on guitar at the end. The highlight of the evening was the unveiling of "The Seeking"[Sea King]. The true life force of the band decided to make a stunning appearance to the stage via a cardboard box. He's so creative. On a side note, it was kinda fun to watch Sherri sing, play, drop her pick, chuckle, and keep going. Yes, we saw. It was fun. And whatever that was about frozen people was hilarious. What book was that? |
