if you're talkin' bout a release to alt radio especially college radio, i vote for "just like we do" because it's very similar to the vibe that out's there esp. with the Garden State soundtrack and it's acoustic guitar feel... it's lovely, showcases harmony as always drawing listeners to the beautiful voices... i actually think it's actually, besides marv things, the most 'radio friendly' song on the album...

just my 2 cents... (as miss future a&r)

be blessed! I am.. listening to rnoises during long drives...

My Lovely got my vote, it's just a darn good song. Great melody, lyrics are nice and it's happy...can't go wrong there.

I say "Plenty of Paper", b/c "Telescope Eyes" is a bit depressing. And POP is well... more um... pop. (The good kind of pop.)

personally, i'd just like to get the first single on the air before worrying about what to release as a second single. although the second single can sometimes be the breakthrough (ie. sic transit gloria - brand new). that said, the second single will be released near summer, right? so it needs to be a summer anthem. something upbeat, catchy, and perfect for driving around with your windows down and the system blaring.... golly sandra.

I don't know, what is the usual time between the album being released and the 2nd single? I'm guessing around 3-4 months. That would put it in the summer. And I'd have to agree with you, Golly Sandra is a good light-hearted summer song. I think "My Lovely" and "Marvelous Things" could also pull it off though. They are at a outside birthday party after all in the video.

i don't think the poll results are reflecting a choice that would actually be best for the band.... personally i think a song like brightly wound, my lovely, or even plenty of paper (mind you i love all these songs), would only continue to propagate an image of eisley as a band not to be taken seriously.

i think the best song on the album, period, which would also serve as a great next single is i wasn't prepared. otherwise one day i slowly floated away is a great candidate as well. these are songs that are very engrossing and yet have an element of what makes eisley interesting and not just the next band.

Would you care to back that up with some reasoning?

I think I agree with ideal...

"Brightly Wound" is beautiful, but with lyrics like "I shall never grow old, make believe is too much fun," people might think the band a bit too precious (like some critics have accused).

"My Lovely" doesn't have much of anything remarkable about it. The chorus might be a little catchy, but its somewhat-generic lyrics and production wouldn't really showcase the more interesting aspects of the band, in my opinion.

"Plenty of Paper" is a little ahead of the other two, as far as arrangement and production go, but I don't think it has a real strong, engaging focus that they'd probably want in a radio single.

I don't know--that's just my take on it. Mind you, I don't even listen to radio, and couldn't care much less about it aside from the fact that it might help expose Eisley to some new fans...

I'm afraid so on both counts. Sheryl Crow covered the song for the "Big Daddy" soundtrack. And "ball sack" is hi-larious!

I really have to disagree. "I Wasn't Prepared" is so slow and boring (no offense Eisley). If I heard it for the 1st time on the radio it wouldn't make me interested in the band, it would probably put me to sleep!

I can't say I disagree, but we are not looking at the most discerning people in the universe out there. Radio songs don't need to be great, just catchy.
