Bergfield? It just seems like the amphitheatre would be better if Eisley were going to put on a show, but we really just want them to be there to eat and hang out. Are there a lot of park benches? $50 just to hang out at the amphitheatre seems like a lot. Is there a big grill? Need input.

Er, sorry, I posted in an older thread before I saw this one. But yeah, my answer is still basically "yes". This might make it a bit easier for me, spacing out the time between this and Cornerstone.

Kim, I'll go ahead and lock the other threads to avoid confusion, and put links to this thread. If anything else changes (date-wise), let me know.. I should be able to reset the poll, instead of having to start a new thread. Though hopefully we'll get this date set soon. Smile

O.K. Here is more info I just discovered about parks in Tyler.

It is:
$25 to reserve a section of a park
$50 to reserve a Pavilion or Amphitheatre
$100 damage deposit if we reserve a Pavilion or Amphitheatre.

The gentleman I talked to did say Bergfield Park was the most requested. Now, you get the $100 deposit back, but since I don't think we want to put $150 into this for any length of time, I suggest we reserve an area (or two, if necessary) of Bergfield Park. There is no Pavilion (covered area), but there is plenty of shade. The area(s) we choose should be large enough for everyone there to sit down, with a large barbeque pit (two prefereably). The health dept. may have qualms with us bringing our own bbq pits, but the health dept. probably won't be there.

What we need now is for someone from or near Tyler to help us. I can't drive from Austin to look at parks in Tyler. We need someone who will drive by Bergfield Park (unless someone else has a better location in mind) soon, and find a suitable location for this event. The that person (with help from us boardies) will take $25 to Tyler Parks and Rec. ask for Doris Smith, and she will help us secure the area of the park for our "Special Event". There will be a "don't destroy our property" contract to sign upon reservation of the picnic area(s). Who will rise?

JD

P.S. The sooner we get this ironed out the better. I also learned that the date we were previously planning for (the 25th of June) is already reserved to some other production.

Wowzers. Look at you. Yeah, June 11th is going to be the date. I hate to rush this without letting more people find out, but we do need to get this in action. Especially for people like me that need to buy plane tickets!

Anyone that could do this....let us now, please....any questions just send me a PM. I would imagine there are going to be about 30 people there at the most. Ok? ok....

I think itd be better to just do a regular park open grass picnic table area than an ampitheatre....i want to put an emphasis on hanging out and chillin, rather than eisley playing...you know? I just want them to hang out and have a good time. I like having good times.

Ok....back to work.

Bye bye!

I called Tyler Parks and Rec. again to ask another question that I hope will make it easier to whciever brave and heady soul steps forward from the Tyler area to help us out by checking on and reserving the picnic area.

I spoke to Doris Smith. She said the area that will best suit us is close to 2nd St. I hope that helps. Someone should still probably look at it, unless someone already know what I'm talking about, then I guess we'll still need you to reserve the area. We can't do this right without some local help, unless we just wing it, and hope for the best.

What city with an airport is closest to tyler? I have to fly in from TN, if Im' going to go. Plus if there was anyone going from that town, I would love a ride. Otherwise I'd fave to rent a car or something.

DFW is the closest, unless you want to fly right into Tyler, but my guess is that would be much more expensive. DFW=Dallas-Fort Worth.
