Telescope eyes is definitely one of eisley's potentially more tear jerking songs, touching on the various experiences of rejection we have all felt.

But I have to wonder about one lyric that is rather two-edged in its meaning.

"I'm just like you, I know you know, I'm just like you, so leave me alone."

Before I go off on my varied hypothesis' of what this could mean I want to know what some of you out there think.

What else did you think this could mean? I thought it was pretty general and obvious. Did you think its about one person in particular?

"I'm just like you (Arnie) I know you (Arnie) know. I'm just like you (Arnie) so leave me alone."

HAHA!
I thought you guys would respond that way. (except for the pants spaming)

The usual interpretation of this song would be that we are all the same so don't pick on them. Love one another right?

I have a different idea about the song.

"I know you know I'm just like you so leave me alone"

The singer is representing a person lost in a world full of clicks, each click has their own standard of normal. The singer has a friend that no longer thinks she is normal so the friend hurts her and leaves her. Then the singer does the same thing to the friend when she says, 'leave me alone' therefore repeating the vision cycle and possibly going off to create her own new click. Ahhh the fruit of the wounded.

I am never comfortable with the notion,"we are all the same." I know this can't be true because every day I go to bathroom I clearly have different plumbing then the opposite sex.

Its just so interesting how some poeple can desire so much to be unique and yet insist that they are the same as everybody else at the same time.
I would say we are all the same in that we are all human and some of us can be similar, but that is about as far I can use that word conscering us.

I think it's about some nerd named Matthew who wants to date a nerd turned hottie named Sherri. He knows the REAL Sherri, and thinks he has a chance with her, but she doesn't want to be reminded of her past because it makes her cry.....

I KNOW I'm right because, well, I AM Matthew.

I'm serious! Ask Sherri! Ask Kim!

No way, are you for real? Becuause if you are, that is something really well... anymore talk about it would be too seriouse on a public forum.

Ya, considering their popularity, and their undeniable charm, they probably have a few stalkers at every show (shudder). But who can discern the truth based on a thread in a forum? I don't know the history of the band members, and its really not my business. Stuff like that is more for friends and fammily to hear.
However if you are THE matthew, something like this could come back to haunt both of you in potentialy very bad ways, at the least regret. Unforgiveness can leave some nasty holes in the heart.

Note to self: Use emoticons to express sarcasm....

I'm from Atlanta. Wouldn't you expect the real Matthew to at least live in Texas?? And you're probably right about there being lots of Matthews. There are a lot of freaks out there.

another good song with lots of gravity is blackened crown

A face broken upstairs I fall down
Tumbling I lose my ground
Paint my hair a blackened crown
Lift my head as I cry out

Did you hear me holler at you
to come save me I'm in danger
My pearls have fallen into mud
and you were too late

I agree. Thats one of my favorites. Thats one of the things I love about Eisley besides their awesome music and their amazing sweetness, is their lyrics. They arent like anyone elses lyrics. It's very deep and thought provoking.
