Probably because the two churches and donctrines are so separated (for example, mormons use the book of mormon in addition to the bible, Catholics and Christians use the bible exclusively.) I think it mostly just has to do with the organizations as a whole. It's like with any statistic I suppose. You take the majority of what people claim...but Christianity is more than a label claim. "Disciple of Christ". that's amazing. i'm being poorly represented... Thats kind of how I am. I believe in a God. But the rest I have come to believe through my own experiences. I dont believe that God is up there, granting our prayers and making decisions for us. There are too many things explained by Science to believe what the Bible says. I do believe strongly though, that our soul and body are separate entities and when we die (possibly even before we die) our soul can leave our body and go up to 'heaven'. I don't believe in Hell (so I guess some Judiasm fits in there) Yeah. Will and I had many talks about this before he died. He was Mormon (a bad one at that) and the church was training him to become some sort of leader type person so he was taught a lot. I grew up Lutheran, so we had different views about things, but the thing we both believed in was that we weren't put here by God, nor does he have any decisions over our lives. His death though, confirmed some of my beliefs. But yeah, thats kinda what I believe. The Mormons believe that Jesus was just a prophet/teacher/do-gooder. Christians and Catholics believe that He is the Son of God and that He is who He said He is. _________________ Thistledown |

so, um, christian, i guess, even though i never call myself that because people don't understand what i'm talking about. I know exactly what you are talking about, because I, myself am a Christian, not just one who says they are but you wouldn't know it by watching their actions, one who is one and acts like one. I think Christian is an overused word and many people put their stereotypes into place when they hear it. I hate that and it makes me sad. They think we are judgemental, hypocritical jerks, and I can't blame people for thinking that, they have gotten the wrong impression by people. I hope that people know that being a Christian is a wonderful thing and I'm glad that I am, but I don't look down on others who aren't or who don't believe. My brother is Agnostic and we don't' agree on everything, obviously, but I love him no matter what. I also have friends who are Atheist and they know where I stand and I know where they stand, the only thing I can do is be an example! I don't force my beliefs onto anyone and those who don't believe what I believe shouldn't force their beliefs on me. You should respect the person for who they are. |
