argument 1: universal appeal exhibit 1: i hold in my hands a copy of STATUS magazine. iunno if any of you read this or not. it's a hardcore punk and screamo zine distributed for free by STATUS RECORDS. it's something i have a fleeting interest to. its a thin, flimsy little thing. a few interviews, an editorial on the status of the industry full of unconfirmed rumours, and reviews. most albums are torn to shreds by this magazine. and in the year i've been reading it i have never seen any album reviewed in it that does not fall in the punk or some form of post-punk genres. yet in the autumn issue, as i was skimming the reviews and admiring the layout and design (which is far more intersting than any content inside...  ) was a review of Laughing City by Eisley. i stopped immediately... scared to read it... i couldn't imagine they had anything nice to say. but evidently the hardcore guys have a soft spot. this guy who was complaining that the sex pistols reunion show wasn't loud enough really liked the EP. REALLY LIKED THE EP. not only did he really like the ep, he devoted a decent space to reviewing it in what is a pretty skimpy magazine targeting what i consider an elitist listener group. what more can be said? amazing. _________________ rest in my arms sleep in my bed theres a design to what i did and said piccysssssss |

SCAN, SCAN, SCAN. thats what you have to do now. or delete the post and pretend i'm going mad. thats pretty interesting, esp if its a punk mag. maybe its a new direction for the lp, Eisley goes punk. Chauntelle takes the comparison with Courtney Love from a brand new fan a little too serious, and makes Eisley change direction, she wants more attitude. Stacy shaves her hear and Sherri gains 30 new piercings over night, whilst the boys of the band have adopted Keith Flint (prodify) style hair cuts and dumped their Chucks in favour of some heavy clobber boots! its official they're now known as The Eisley's and they're coming to punk rock your town!! joke. _________________ "A mathematician is a blind man in a dark room looking for a black cat which isn't there." - Charles Darwin (legend) |
