ok so i've been playing texas hold em once a week for six weeks with a group of friends. the pots usually range from $100 to $160 (depends on how many people can make it), with $20 to buy in.

so in my 6 weeks...

week 1- $160 pot- LOST (-$20)
week 2- $140 pot- SPLIT (+$50)
week 3- $120 pot- LOST (-$20)
week 4- $140 pot- SPLIT (+$50)
week 5- $100 pot- WON (+$80)
week 6- $100 pot- WON (+$80)

if you're wondering, we split the pot sometimes because it ends up being 3 AM and we just get too tired to care.

so in total i'm up $220. not bad for someone with not much more that 6 weeks experience. i knew the rules and how to play before hand, but was no expert.

in conclusion, i've figured that i can play 11 more weeks before i break even, at the very least, and that gambling is great. Wink

Poker is fun when you play with people who take it seriously and/or play with money. I hate playing with my friends who go all in after 3 rounds even though they don't have anything good. when played right its a lot of fun

I've become obsessed with Texas Hold 'Em in the last couple weeks Laughing

But my Mum won't play for real money. My stakes aren't that bad!

Green chips are .50, blue chips are 2.50, and red chips are 10.00.

I want money Laughing

very true. we all like to play really conservatively, but then our games end up lasting a long time. once it gets down to two people in heads up, there's at least an hour left. the only way we ever get each other out is when one person has a flush, but the other has a full house or something.

I don't play a lot of poker but it's a pretty fun game. I just recently learned it and played my 2nd overall game with a few friends @ a 5$ buy-in. Now these guys are good and I was destroying them for some odd reason, haha. I'll call it beginner's luck, but I was up nearly 10 bucks. I was really up and down, and finally I was knocked out because I decided to go all in with pocket queens unknowingly vs. someone who had pocket aces.

It was pretty fun though.

Poker is pretty fun. My friend has those clay chips that make that cool sound when you throw them into the pot and stuff. But we play with quarters sometimes. Quarters aren't much, but combined they amount to quite a bit of money. It's fun, until you start losing.

My usual scenario:
"I'm going all in."
(needs an Ace on the River for a straight)
"Ace...I need an ace..."
(5 of clubs)
"AW C'MON!"

my buddies will play a rotating game quite often:
-hold 'em
-omaha
-mexican sweat
-five card draw
-seven card stud

only $5 buy in so its kept pretty light, and you get your buy back if you get 2nd.
i'd have to say right now i'm down about $15, but thats only because i was horrible when i started playing about a month ago.
last four games for me: 2nd, 2nd, 1st, 2nd.

I'm an poker-holic, I have an addiction. I love the game. I'll never refuse an opportunity to play. I used to play online all the time, won some cash too, now I can't play online Sad Good news is they're holding a tournament today! How ironic it is on the same day of the final table of the WSOP.

Haha, Texas Hold 'em is fun lol.. I was talking to one of my friends one night and he was talking about it, and I had no clue how to play, so he sent me a site on how to, the next day I had another friend teach me. I haven't played with real money though.. it has something to do with the little amount of money I have and don't feel like losing because I lack something most people have called a JOB. Until I find one, I'll be playing online. Neutral
