I know, really. But I guess lately it seems to have become a term to describe a certain sound, and not just independance.

I think Marvelous Things has a little country to it.

I dont think eisley'ss genre could really be defined either.... but i liked the whole....

"Is it possible that we just classified Eisley's true genre?

Eisley: a special kind of Emo country western music is for you.

which, isn't all country music emo. Just, with cowboy boots and twang?"

....idea....very creative...[/quote]

I'd call them indie-pop.

I see them being much closer to "emo" than "country" though.

i think eisley tends to write with no boundaries... especially genre boundaries. the ideas, subject matter, style, etc. could be as vast as their experiences... as the books they read... as the woods they walk thru.

and btw..Golly Sandra didn't sound country when i first filmed it in Stacy's bedroom on the old organ. it sounded vintage... very 20's or something. But... Casey from Hotrod sat in on the song during the Brand New tour, as you guys know... and, vwallah! the steel was added. But it wasn't a threat, of course, since indie folk (there i go using terms) is not uncool...and of course, roots: think about it. my grandad came to Texas on horse and wagon. They sang folk songs as a family in the 20's - 40's. My dad passed that heritage on - we sang the same folk songs growing up in the station wagon (get it? horse and wagon.. station wagon...) until the Beatles broke ha ha..! Then everything changed: my parents would sing "We can work it out" and later "hey jude" in the same car. So, guess what we did when Eisley was young.... you got it.
