ok. so when i first became obsessed with you as a band was when i downloaded a bunch of you songs. i loved everything about it, the timing, the singing, every instrument was doing something interesting. but finally when i got your laughing city ep, there was something noticeably different from the versions i had heard. i loved the first telescope eyes i heard, but on the ep it seems rushed and the first time u sang " telescope eyes metal teeth" i liked how you made us wait for the next line and i liked how u slurred "i" the second time singing " telescope eyes metal teeth". i liked waiting for it. but in the new version, u slur it both times. and i just wanted to say that i loved your first version of the song. the producer messed it up, he tried to strip u of your vision. he tried to make it too flashy or poppy or somthin. same with laughing city. i'm not sure if this is coherent enough for you to understand wat i'm feeling as a fan and great admirer of you as a band, but ditch the producer and record it yourself. and trust yourselves. because i do. your fan, Nick Kiehle p.s. happy birthday sherri (i know its a little late) _________________ i'm a director.favorite movies:Boogie Nights, Magnolia,Pi,Requiem For A Dream,The Beach, Romeo and Juliet, happiness,Batman Returns, kids,Fight Club.i like all arts.i believe in the gods of nature.i think its all connected, its just beautiful portland is my favorite place.i love all kinds of music:Bjork,Pink Floyd, The Beatles, Boston, The Faint, Beck, led zeppelin the sounds, the smiths, Radiohead, phantom planet,Bright Eyes, Tenacious D,Le Tigre. |

NICK, How could you?!! WELL....I never...!! No, for real. you're dead on. and if it'll help your feelings any, we ditched those producers. The band was young, timid and got pushed around in the studio. NO MORE!!! Rob Shnapf won't produce such inept, life sucked, void of soul, commercialism. Listen to Elliot Smith's records. heart, soul, natural, imperfect, beautiful, rich warm tones...analog dude. It's coming. Thanks for hanging in there; please don't give up on the band. boyd p.s. often at live shows, they rebel and do the old version of Telescope Eyes. _________________ EisleyWebGuy "The industrialists never saw the fruit of their own labor - Post Moderism, which I now proclaim as dead. i actually kind of liked the new version, except for how the, "i can't be seen with you, you freak" was just cut to, "i can't be seen with you." it makes me think of sherri holding the producers by the shirt collars and saying, "you want the truth? you can't handle the truth!!!" they weren't ready for the harshness of being called freaks. _________________ If the end of the world has proper noodles I'll probably be okay with it. |

Honestly pretty much everyone I can think of that heard laughing city did not like the way it was (but I'm nobody to tell the band how to make their music). _________________ God is a place you will wait for the rest of your life |

In the meantime, Nick, might I suggest picking up Marvelous Things, their newest EP. Different producers and.. wow.. at least 10 times better. No offense to the Laughing City EP. _________________ "The revolution starts today, not tomorrow." :: got g-Love? |
