Sorry for being sarcastic... I really have nothing against you. I just want to come here and have good conversation about Eisley. I'm not out to follow all of your posts and scrutinize every last letter. As of this post, I promise not to comment on anything you post in a negative way, and we're on good terms, because it's silly to bicker over such things... Sound good? |

blagga, blop...blogginz... but ANYWAY, a great thread Chris and thanks for all the rad-mo comments that give me super dooper perspective... I wanted to get it back on track for a second unless we're bored with the topic; It sorta freaks me out to hear these amazing comments. Like... we're sitting in this house...doing Christmas shopping and stuff... driving around Tyler like everyone; and all of these stores now have "Marvelous Things" by the buttloads.. but it's hard not to get the feeling that no one is buying them or no one even knows they're out there... or cares. Maybe that's because it's our own town and people know us and don't care...which is fine. True - the label isn't pumping or promoting the ep; they only do that on the full length. So, the only word that gets out is from the band side of things... shows, web, newsletters, word of mouth by fans, etc. No ads or broadcast support or radio support or whatever. The label loves the band guys, but...in the end, if 1000's and 1000's of people don't buy the cd, Eisley will just be another band that got a shot at it. And, as we've always said, that'll be ok. There's more to life than success on that order. Anyway, this time, it's just an ep, so...probably not a deal breaker. More of an indicator. I think they only ordered 10,000; That should be no problem over the long haul. And by the time spring rolls around, there'll be a new pressure... btw... there's been a major change... it involves management. I'll try to make a post about it. I'm just rambling and forgot my train (choo choo!!!) of thought. OH..I was just saying, it's hard to have the same perspective you guys do... though, on one hand, I can totally see it. I saw it in '98 at their first show. woah, that's weird. Anyway... hope we can always have this cool community and keep in touch... I DO NOT want this to fade away. That's why BIG can sometimes suck. BIG can threaten the tiny world. I'll try to tell them not to write such great songs. Dang...I heard pieces of some new ones last night at rehearsal. holy smokes...I think we're all in trouble. I don't get it...I don't know where they get this stuff from...? I'm not gonna get all weird or anything, but... I think maybe God is just giving them favor from ON HIGH. Otherwise, I don't think it's normal...to be so creative or whatever. Still...none of this stuff is mainstream guys... or is it? I'm too close to it. Marvelous Things might have potential. A freind called me today and said he heard it for the first time today....on The EDGE, and freaked out, teared up and headed for Virgin Records. Thank God for Josh, from the Edge, who really loves them. Otherwise, if the airwaves never catch on - Radio - shmadio... that's ok too. Besides, Radiohead never gets much airplay....Maybe that's a good route. Speaking of indie-ness and the new record - Rob has a fascenation with indie music.... I love that...not too polished. But the less polished, the less mainstream...the less radio... less record sales...more likely to get dropped. Maybe we should have started out on an indie. But, the future is not yet written. But this novel is. Off to BrewTones to hang out... Me, Stacy, Weston, Jon and Christie are going cuz Weston has to run sound... and Jon's brother's band is playing and Jon is playing bass. later. Hey man, thanks for posting such an important message in my thread. (i feel so special And i know you'll love this, i have not met ANYONE, not one person, who says they dont like Eisley. I have introduced their music to mexicans who cant even speak english, and they adore the smooth melodic sounds that Eisley produces. There was one guy who was strictly a gangster rap, thug life kinda guy, and even HE was intoxicated from the dreamy Telescope Eyes. There is something about them that makes it really easy to fall in love with. As soon as i heard the first song, i thought, " i have been waiting for this band for a long time". When you are crazy about music as i am, finding Eisley is like finding your dream woman. I know that sounds really intense but it's how I personally feel. I think the records will sell just fine, if they dont, who cares? You wont be millionaires but you'll still be Eisley. And that is awesome. God will take care of everything, he always does-----Chris Aldrin _________________ .egassem lanimilbus a si sihT |

It's great that Eisley is getting at least some radio play considering that there really isn't much worth listening to on the airwaves anymore. Anyway, I think Eisley is moving along quite beautifully. I really like the fact they aren't sickeningly huge mainstream giants, but they aren't so obscure to the point they have a tiny cult following that would dump them if they did turn up on the radio. I mean, the tours, very positive articles and reviews, word of mouth, and pure talent have really worked well at giving them an increasingly growing fanbase, but it isn't out of proportion. Anyway, about advertising, I think I've corrupted several people. My friend now thinks they're absolutely amazing and we've only been having exams this weeks, so I played Marvelous Things out loud in the classroom when we had time before a test and one girl came up to me and asked what I was playing and she started talking about how cool it sounded. She also started dancing around to it, so I'm guessing that's a good sign |

The original poster wanted us to advertise? It's interesting that the only thing Eisley has is Dallas's The Edge, Word of Mouth and there was that MTV scoop, but it's over. So really, oh...and the forum. So, it's: The Forum Word of Mouth The Edge oh...and Press; like, the zenes and reviews and stuff... but that's random. OH, and Shows. they're sorta like Advertising. I think when the full length comes out, WB pushes real hard with Ads. _________________ EisleyWebGuy "The industrialists never saw the fruit of their own labor - Post Moderism, which I now proclaim as dead. i definitely think big things are in store for eisley, and i agree that God is behind the band 100%, as you (eisley and family) have shown yourselves to be behind God 100% and that is such a great thing. i also think that it is really neat how you all stay in touch with us (the fans) through xanga blogs and this forum (aka your xanga, ha). as far as word of mouth goes, i've been doing my small part by mentioning you guys on my website whenever i can (and even using eisley lyrics in the background of some of my journal comics in november) and everyone i've heard from that has then checked out this site or bought the eps have loved everything there is to love about eisley. so anyways, keep on keepin on, and keep on relying on God to show you all where to go and everything will continue to be both funky fresh AND way groovy cool -todd! _________________ www.toddbot.com yay comics! www.myspace.com/seamonstersongs sing songs and song sings! |
