Who is the woman talking in the beginning of the original version of Over the Mountains? And what is she talking about?
I'm not sure if this has been answered before, but I'm curious.

It's from a tape that was left in an organ that was given to the Eisleyans.

That's a great question! I meant to ask that a long while back... but forgot to. I forget lots of stuff.

When the Laughing City version came out... I ceased to think about it since it doesn't contain that part.

Something about Advil being the new fad. Sigh. Alcohol is a solution to many more problems. Smile

She's right...

Inside story:

A gig at a crappy little venue on a small Texas downtown strip yielded
this historic outcome.

We arrived that afternoon to find the toilets were full...(plumbing didn't
work because they couldn't pay the water bill) They promised to feed us
and pay us...but did neither. Toward the end of the show, 3 old ladies
with purple hair, dressed to the hilt and smelling of...old lady perfume,
snooted in and proceeded to evict the tennants.

The redeeming factor: In the back room, there it was...glowing with
magical luminance...the Wulitzer. Stacy lit up like a beaming glow-worm.
I inquired and they said, "that old thing? If you want it and are willing to
haul it off, you can have it..."

They've written almost every song you guys know on it. It's like the Holy
Grail to them... it has feelings, a personality and they won't tour with it
for fear that something will happen to it. Smile

The bonus was that weird cassette tape still inside...and that freaky
sales presentation or something...they actually played that live using the
organ for several shows after.

And now you know...."the rest of the story".
Moral to story: seize the humor in the middle of insanity.

that's pretty neat.........did this tape have a label or was it unmarked?

i have a weird story like that......one time i was playing my guitar through my console stereo......i had a distortion pedal hooked up.......and i began to pick up a radio station that identified itself from somewhere like ARizona, i can't remember......i was kinda freaked out since the radio wasn't actually on..........so i put a tape in a recorded it while i played with the pedal and changed the sound.............it was a recorded mass or something with these chants and had a conversation about birth control..............i'm definitely going to have to use it on something

That's really interesting. It's kinda like a "Paul's Dead", Abbey Road, or Sgt. Pepper message rumor of the Beatles or something.
