you know pretending to be sherri was kinda fun. i'm a huge fan of bad religion so i'm just going to convince the world that i'm Greg Graffin.not only that i'm going to copy photos of Greg and Rise Against and pennywise to validate my clam.dose that sound like a good idea. besides i'm not cool enough to be myself. but i can be cool as some i think is cool. _________________ http://zenblade9.deviantart.com/ |

I'm scarred too. Apparently Chris Carrabba and Mike Marsh aloped and were scared to admit it to their families. Longest night of my life. |

you know who winds up being hurt by all of this? the fans. people who participate in such behavior make artists uncomfortable, and in so doing, help create a wall between the artist and their audience. i mean, seriously, if you've been inflicted by people doing this, it makes you WATCH WHAT YOU SAY to people you really don't know; it makes you uncomfortable around people, and it makes you rather untrusting. and while i'm not one who appreciates artists who distance themselves from 'common people,' i have to say it's quite easy to understand why a musician would want to build a wall around themselves. it's self-preservation. i kind of feel bad for sherri and anyone who has to endure such things. there was once a fake eisley on livejournal, and it was really, really creepy. how creepy was it? well, let's just say you wouldn't have known it wasn't sherri! apparently whoever ran that journal read the forum and her xanga pretty closely...because there would be stuff on there, not just pictures, but also pseudo-personal stuff, based on what the real sherri had written. had i not been around sherri and the band and gotten to know them a little bit, i would have easily thought it was the real deal. this person was good--even going so far as to utilize the same grammar forms as sherri! i mentioned it to boyd, and i could tell that such a thing was a frustration for him, too--i mean, there really wasn't much he could do about it. it's kind of sad, the nutcases that are out there. you never know if the person behind such things is simply a 13 year old kid (which is probably more likely the case) or a potential Mark David Chapman. if i were in the band's position, i'd definitely err on the side of caution...and that's sad, because it changes things, in a really profound way. _________________ "Die Sonne scheint noch" -- Sophie Scholl <3 <3 <3 |
