I say this reluctantly...but every band tomorrow night will sound pretty indie. (like...ruff indie) The monitors aren't that great, the sound isn't that great...it used to be a hardcore venue; pretty much, the sound booth is in a room in the back and you can't mix worth a flip. So, to Andrew, I'm sorry this is the first time you'll hear them. NO insult to the venue....they're probably doing the best with what they've got...it's just one of my pet peaves. If you're going to have a venue, it's pretty much about bands and sound right? Bands want to sound good. What else is there? Of course...you guys. But it requires a commitment to sound. So....there you have it. It'll be fun no matter what.

boyd,
I have been there many a time. I know the situation.

But you really can't expect the Frank Erwin Center every night until you actually book the frank erwin center every night.

what do you mean by "ruff" indie??? would that mean, not "tight"? or not good? or inexperienced? I'm just curious..I haven't heard it put like that before.

"used to be?" is it not any more? i mean, obviously moss eisley is playing there, but i was thinking maybe they were just trying to bring a band in that would make them some money, like the door does occasionally. anyway, just curious...one of the guys that helped start that place is a good friend of mine...[/name dropping]

Yeah ...whatever it was "before," it still is. Over the years I have seen plenty of bands play there that weren't hardcore bands...war rocket ajax, tasty snax, my spacecoaster, lyndsay diaries, unscathed, the list goes on. that is irrelevant. you might as well say the sound sucks instead of alluding to the fact that hardcore bands don't need monitors.

on a side note, dang, i can't believe i missed norma jean again. bless the martyr is amazing.

In 98, straight forward rock bands used to bomb there because they weren't hard enough but more recently they've been broadening their market by booking more melodic rock bands. My disclaimer was for friends that might be used to seeing this band at The Curtain Club or other venues where sound is a priority. If you're a veteran 412 guy, you'll be ok... it's all good. I'm just real opinionated about sound because I end up having to deal with it at every show and want the band to sound good.....sorry.

Daniel - man, it's gonna be too late for us to hang for ihop. That 2.5 hr drive is tough and we have to be back up at 7:00am
