Posted: Mon Jun 12, 2006 7:11 am I made this in about two and a half hours this morning. What it basically is is a cover that mixes Sunfeet and They All Surrounded Me (Hence the name). I started out with an idea just for organ, but then it quickly evolved: distorted guitars, lots of BGV, a bit of accoustic drums, and even a whacky train sound from my keyboard that provided the rythym. I am normally pretty critical about my work, but I really like this for the most part. http://www.yousendit.com/transfer.php?action=download&ufid=23FF119C0F4 DF62A www.purevolume.com/mistymarching This is still only really a demo, so any suggestions or critiques you have would be greatly appreciated. I will still have a bit more cleaning up to do with it eventually. I call it the stoner mashup because when I was in the living room listening it (I burned a CD of it so I could hear it on the hi-fi speakers in our living room) my brother remarked, "Hey, thats pretty cool. Kinda like stoner music or something." =P PS- You get the most out of the song if you listen on headphones, there is a little bit of stereo mixing in the song. _________________ EisleyForever wrote: you're A-list in my heart! This is like the trip-hop remix! I listened to it twice so far and I am liking it. It's rather neat. So I'm far from a musical expert, but since you ask for critiques.....Here's my thoughts critically: I like the beats and the transition to They All Surrounded Me. The second chorus cymbal rhythm is neat, but maybe stop the rhythm for that part? I know it's like the "heartbeat" of the song, but its slightly off/or they compete.... Also I like the gradual fade out of the different parts towards the end, but maybe start that earlier? It seemed long at the end. That's about it! I do really like it. |

The biggest problem is that my good part of headphones (with lots of sound isolation) are currently broken and being sent back for repairs. This means that It's very hard to hear my headphone monitors (just some crappy ones) when playing drums. As a drummer, this really bugs me, and is on my to fix list. I wanted a long song, but I agree it drags on for a bit. I'm not so high and mighty as Sigur Ros with an ability to make an album of 10 minute songs interesting. I threw it up on my old purevolume, I was able to download it through that, hopefully you can too. www.purevolume.com/mistymarching _________________ EisleyForever wrote: you're A-list in my heart! All right, bad then good. Watch your dipthongs, a choir boy like you should know. The "down" sounds awfully Minnesotan (and boy, would I know). The other thing is that I truly love BOTH of these songs, srsly. I really like how upbeat "TASM" is, and so I guess that hindered it for me, since you sing it in a more mellow manner. Grood things. I really like it, I am a stoner after all. The chorus is interesting, and creepy in the good way. I didn't know your Les Paul sounded that nice.. is that your Les Paul? What I liked about it the most, is that even though it's a completely diffrent sound, it still holds that 'haunting' Eisley sound that makes me love them so much. Grood job, give me your autograph. Of course, this is all my opinion, and you don't have to regard it in any way. PS- Oh, I found it. _________________

Its actually a pretty dirty recording of the amp (it hums like mad), but everything else covered it up pretty well. And, I just added the lame-o distortion that was built into the amp via the old footpedal thats decaying and broken. _________________ EisleyForever wrote: you're A-list in my heart! It's flippin' ace! I like the bit where it all builds up at the end! Ok my thoughts on how to improve it: use more than the organ, but then again I tend to over do things! Maybe some synth or something will boost it up. Anyway. It's cool. Good job- it put a smile on my face! |

It hums like a batch of monkies in a choir. It's the V1151. Tremolo, distortion, mechanical reverb (but I think thats broke). I picked it up off my cousin for 30 bucks. _________________ EisleyForever wrote: you're A-list in my heart! MAKECOLDPLAYHISTORY |

Vox's solid state amps weren't that bad, but the American ones weren't built very well. Don't drop it. _________________ Scriptozoology, a screenwriting blog .. Facebook |
