The other day I had a conversation with my best friend about real love and whether existed. The previous weekend we went to the midnight showing of POTC and this guy I know from school ened up sitting next to me. We'll call him Bob. It was completly unplanned. I'd known Bob from school but at that time he'd had a girlfriend so we were just friends. Well, at the movie we hit it off. Bob and I then went to Superman the next day. He was really nice and funny and a little sweeter than when I knew him at school. Until a girl called his phone and all he said was that he was in a movie and to call him back. Then he didn't want to watch the movie, but I did. Which was akward (but I payed 8 dollars for my ticket, so I was watching the movie).And after that I he just never kept in contact. When I told my friend this she just shook her head and told me that it only further proved that love doesn't exist. I didn't really understand her though, because it's not like Bob and I were supposed to get married, it was just a bad date. But she insisted. She remined me that is not the first time such an accident has happened to me. Which is true. But I'd pinned that to my choice of guys, not love. She thinks love is just a myth and it might have exsisted in the past, but not now. All that exists now is lust. I'm not really sure about it. I hope that love exists and that I'm just meeting the wrong sort of guys. What do you guys think? Is love real? My friend and I arn't religious people, at all, so maybe that has something to do with it. I just don't know. I think maybe love exists, just not in the sterotypical way everyone thinks (like in movies and all that). I think it's different for everyone. I don't want to open a can of worms or anything. I just want to know everyone's opinion and have conversation like this forum use to have. (I mean, I've only been here for about a year, a year and a half, but things have definatly changed since then. i think that love does exist. but maybe some people get into it in the wrong time and they get divorced and the worst thing to me would be having to fall in love when someone forces you. or if you love someone only for their looks and their money. i think there is someone special out there for everyone, we just have to be patient. _________________ F L I C K R . ////\\\\ |

you provide actions because of love. i got up mega-early on valintines day, travelled accorss the city, and cooked my girlfriend breakfast in bed, because I loved (still love her) her. I never would be able to wake up and cook at that time in the morning, and wouldn't have wanted to if I didn't love her. Love is an emotion that you feel, and show by certain actions. Hate is an emotion: you show someone you hate them by punching them. OK, alot of people do. you shouldn't... I think what is often percieved as love today is actually lust. Flicking through any girlie magazine (such as OK!, Heat...) it's all smiles. But whether those couples actually love eachother is another thing. Personally, I think it's just lust. But I don't know. I can't speak for them. I think we chuck the word about too much. I've had a lot of texts from girls ending with "luv ya". Do they love me? probably. but are they in love with me? no. I love my friends... as friends... this is a strane post. And I shall simply end by noting that I am very happily in love with my girlfriend. one date that doesn't go well isn't proof that love doesn't exist - if love is something deep and true, it takes longer to develop than hanging out twice. i'm sure love exists. it wouldn't be so longed for and talked about if it wasn't. i don't think the movie/tv/romance definitions of it are correct - they focus on only one part of love, the feeling, the physical incarnation. i really think it's more than that. it has to do with choosing exclusivity with someone, choosing to give to them instead of just taking for yourself, and yeah, feelings are a part of it, but actions are too. it's not all kissing and flowers and sunsets, it's everyday crap. like, you have a horrible day at work, or you get in a fight with your family, whatever, someone who loves you isn't just going to brush that aside. and not just in romantic love, but friendship love. friends who love you will be there for you. friends who love you will make sacrifices for you. if love isn't real, how do you explain those kinds of things? just something to think about, i suppose. but, i think people get disillusioned about whether love is real/what love is because they expect a kind of perfection that humans can't offer. _________________ Saellys wrote: Thank God for Arielle all your kind, they're coming clean they shut their eyes their mess, their scene |
