I remember in 3rd grade, at recess, my friend wanted me to play Spice Girls with her (like pretend we were them) and I was like, "Spice Girls? What kind of a name is that? I'm a hot chili pepper yeah!" 
...and then she cried because I made fun of them. I honestly had never heard of them, so I was like spice? And then chili pepper popped into my head as a "spice" which doesn't really make sense now, but we still laugh about it. I'm sorry but if the Spice Girls came out tomorrow I'd probably still love them. They wrote all their own music, and it was intelligent, not the pop crap on the radio now. It was just that, good, bubble gum pop. And I loved their personalities and what they brought to the world of pop. i remember when every boy on earth under the age of 15 loved the spice girls, and knew every word to every song, and owned every record, and absolutely none of them would admit it. i was just as guilty as anyone. but, honestly, i didn't understand any of the spice girls references until somebody pointed them out as spice girls references. of course, once that happened, it all came rushing back. it's kind of creepy. actually, this entire topic is kind of creepy. |
