History of this poll:
So I'm in bass lessons tonight and every lesson my teacher likes to give me a lecture of some sorts, this week, it was why I need to know my basics and be solid. He said I need to have all my basic skill holes filled in, so one day when I'm performing at my college, and there's a scout who approaches me and says, "Listen, I'm a scout for Christina Aguilera, and she needs a bassist for her band, audition?" you can play it SOLID, because any holes and you're OUT OF THERE.

And so I began to think how hilarious it'd be to back up for someone huge like Christina, Britney, Madonna, or Ashlee Simpson.

So take my poll.

here's my reasoning behind saying go for it....sure you'd be selling out or whatever...but seriously it takes capital to pursue personal artistic endeavors, so yeah, it would be like doing commercial work as an actor..you save up enough money doing it until you can start your own company or finance stuff...or whatever....or something... blah blah blah

My dad played in a band with a touring drummer for Janet Jackson and New Editon. He said that he had some training, but he picked up most of it on his own. But come on, you're teacher is just trying to freak you out Hendrix didn't have solid theory and he backed up Little Richard, Ike and Tina, and the Isley Brothers.
(Yes, theroy people hate when non-theory people pull Hendrix out of their asses.)

I wasn't even thinking of it that much in depth, I just thought, "WHAT A STORY FOR THE GRANDKIDS!"
Haha, if my mom told me she back up sang for Madonna, I'd be like, "Tell me all about it!"

Back to the orginal question, maybe, it depends on how much I hate them... and how good the pay is.

Unless it directly harmed a very dear project or situation with family/friends, I'd do it in a heartbeat. It could mean great money, great connections and great exposure. The positives could far outweigh the negatives.

There's an oddly worded clause in there, and I'm surprised nobody has touched upon it yet.

Does it start with "He said..." Pretty strange thing for a teacher to say.

I would do it. I never would play a show normally, but for something massive that I respected I would kick my fears in the chest and zone. Actually, I would probably get drunk and then do my thing.
