Thanks for the concern, Boyd. It is quite far. I figured I could leave here on Saturday in the AM. Spend Saturday night at one of Canton's luxurious inns (I LOVE that according to a description on Yahoo, a shower at the Luxury Suites is considered a room "amenity"). And then head home on Sunday morning. I don't mind the driving so much. I kind of mind "losing" that time. I've been wondering how silly it might seem. All I know is I've missed other chances to see other bands for various reasons... and then I end up regretting it. Like the time I missed The Strokes because I had class the same evening. And many other shows I've missed because I couldn't afford the trip. Well, now I can afford the trip. And I know there is nothing I HAVE to tend to this weekend. In a few weeks I may be too busy with work to go any place (before I started teaching, it was naive for me to believe that teachers actually have weekends off). And during spring break I'll be taking another road trip... to New Mexico. It boils down to this. Right now I really want to and can go. Those two things rarely come together so well (generally because for most bands I want to see, you have to buy tickets well in advance). I'd rather not go at it alone, but right now I know no one who is willing or able to go with me. I don't know. Lately I've had MossEisley songs stuck in my head exactly like I've had Ben Folds (Five), REM, Smashing Pumpkins, Counting Crows, Radiohead, Coldplay, and Weezer (etc.) songs stuck in my head in the past (or present). The big difference is... whenever any of those guys are playing in Dallas and I realize only days before a show that I actually can attend... it's just too late for me to make it because the shows are already sold out (or some other reason). So yeah. We'll see. Sorry for doing so much thinking "out loud." Realistically, I doubt I'll make it. But it's still a possibility I'm still strongly considering. _________________ "If you're a ninja, every day is like friday." -Jamie M. |

you should go. i would go, except that would mean i would have to leave friday when i get out of school and i'd get there in time to see the show, then i would have to leave right after the show and go home and i wouldn't get home until late sunday night, so i would miss school again (because i have school on sundays cause im weird or something) plus i wouldn't get to sleep for 2 days so i would probably fall asleep and die on the way home. i think that would suck. i might just wait until they play in orlando. |

Yeah... so maybe I shouldn't complain. I tried driving home from Houston once with only 1 hour of sleep the previous night followed by 8 hours at work... and I almost died on the way home (not literally). I even fell asleep at a red light. And that was only a 1 hour drive! Anyway, something interesting just happened. I talked to my parents... seeking their infinite wisdom (actually, the conversation started with me asking if anything was going on in the family this weekend so that I could ensure that going someplace was even a possiblity). Rather than tell me that I'm crazy for wanting to do such a thing, my dad says, "I'll go with you!" Actually, I think it was more like Mom saying, "Your dad will go with you!" with dad responding, "Yeah!" Mom's currently calling a friend she has in Athens, TX to find out the best way to get to Canton. Turns out that both my parents are quite familiar with the town despite having never been there (the friend in Athens has mentioned it). Never underestimate your parents (I guess I'm lucky that I, and similarly they, are still relatively young). I guess the big telescope I bought for my dad this Christmas is paying off _________________ "If you're a ninja, every day is like friday." -Jamie M. |

yea, rmlawrence.. you will be happy you went if you go. I was in the same boat.. had only seen them at Coldplay. I drove for a while last weekend to see Moss live and I wouldn't trade that experience for anything. Seeing them up close in a small place is great! Plus you get to meet all the cool people from this message board and others. Ah, and you get to meet the band.. more than one member if you arent as shy as I was. I think the chance to see this band in a small "local" show is dwendeling to zero. Just dont forget to bring enough cash to buy an ep2! _________________ "Commit to the Lord whatever you do and your plans will succeed." prov 16:3 |

Wow, whats with all the cool parents? Boyd being the main point. Really, I only wish I had a father like Boyd (I dont have a father, well I do technically, but I never had a father growing up). My mom is probably one of the coolest parents alive too, it's just great to see such supportive parents who love their kids so much. I only hope I'm as good as a father when it comes time (hopefully not soon). _________________ "Im so caught up in the tree of stars Falling in my backyard." |

You put me in front of a bunch of 6th graders and I can talk them to sleep. But put me around older folks... especially crowds... and it's much tougher. The only musicians who I like that I've met are the Smashing Pumpkins (I've actually also kind of met Stephen Malkmus, but I didn't know anything about Pavement at the time... I was sort of dragged to the concert by a friend). And I didn't say a word to them. It was at an official signing thingie... and I waited 4 or more hours in line. Well, I was the very last person to get inside. That would have been cool except my two friends were in line behind me and they never made it inside (they let in 10 at a time and I figured they would be part of the next group... well, there was no next group). I felt SOOO bad... to an extent that I didn't even enjoy meeting my favorite band. It was worse because my friends were the ones who told me about the event (I was clueless). They even drove me there. To wait 4+ hours and not get in... that would suck. I did get a cool picture of Billy Corgan though... and I got my Siamese Dream album autographed. Anyway... if you see a guy not talking to anybody except his 60 year old dad at the show... that's probably us Lawrences By the way, my posts sure are long. Hopefully not annoying as well. I'll go to bed now. _________________ "If you're a ninja, every day is like friday." -Jamie M. |

There had better be room enough if I plan to drive 6 hours! Yeah, I met the Pumpkins (w/o D'arcy though). Of course, depends on what you mean by "met." Like I said, I didn't say anything to them. I regret it now. Oh well. I do have the Zwan CD... and I like it. I have Billy's picture somewhere online... oh, here it is: http://users2.ev1.net/~rmlawrence/billy.jpg He was signing my album at the time. _________________ "If you're a ninja, every day is like friday." -Jamie M. |
