never. it's going to suffer the same fate as the I Wasn't Prepared video. The memories video was made for England promotion (or so we think) and never even surfaced there. I think they expected this album to come out before it is and didn't want to continue promoting an album with a new one just about to come out. |

Memories ways made way, way too late in the game. Too confusing to figure out what they were promoting, I think. But I also think it was worthy of doing. It was just a crapshoot to see if it would stick. It'll come in handy when hopefully people start looking for Eisley stuff after they hear "Invasion," and they want more Eisley videos to watch. Or I think it will be, at least. P.S. We should also beg for its inclusion on iTunes. It might not cost too much to do that. It's worth checking into. _________________ My photography:www.jamiemphoto.com You can't spell awesome without emo...backwards! -Julie definingawesome (11:44:11 PM): Eisley shivers our timbers |

I believe people might want to know if it will be on iTunes because iTunes videos are of marginally higher quality than Flash vids. Plus, it would be nice to be able to support the band this way. _________________ INTELLECT AND ROMANCE OVER BRUTE FORCE AND CYNICISM Smokemonster |

Video is a weird animal these days. Lots of second guessing ($) and shifting of strategies right now where this promotion tool is concerned. As MTV is moving to less music to more reality tv... lables are looking to YouTube and web opportunites for motion. It's an expensive form of marketing. Eisley got over 400,000 views on a simple little crappy video on YouTube... how much did that video cost them? zero. (0) Starting to make sense? Now to the question: "Memories" was a band motivated thing. Band/Fan union. WB thought it was cool... but it happened way after the record cycle was over. No way to promote it but... who knows; maybe they'd consider putting it on itunes. I can ask them. _________________ EisleyWebGuy "The industrialists never saw the fruit of their own labor - Post Moderism, which I now proclaim as dead. I wonder ... if Eisley attempted to do something similar to what Midlake did recently and have a fan video contest. Might turn out a rash of really lame "guy in a chair being a dork" videos, but it could turn out some really cool ones, too. And that way, instead of just one video floating around youtube, there could be dozens. And ther could be an "awards ceremony" video hosted by the band, showing clips of some of their favorites, and maybe even handing out a few prizes? Cost to the band: A little merch, some time watching YouTube. Benefit: Tons of fan involvement, viral fun! _________________ My photography:www.jamiemphoto.com You can't spell awesome without emo...backwards! -Julie definingawesome (11:44:11 PM): Eisley shivers our timbers |

Cost to the band: A little merch, some time watching YouTube. Benefit: Tons of fan involvement, viral fun! One way to cut out the "guy in a chair being a dork" videos is to set guidelines for the content, and the video won't be eligible unless they're met. The Blow recently had a contest for making videos for the first single off their new album, and on the chorus everyone had to be holding something shiny. Viral videos are a fantastic marketing idea. Look what Internet-based videos have done for OK Go! _________________ INTELLECT AND ROMANCE OVER BRUTE FORCE AND CYNICISM Smokemonster |

But I still think "memories" has been the best and most appealing (in a strange way) video Eisley's made. And perhaps material from the old album can be ciculated to promote the new one, so people can get a 'feel' of Eisley without revealing too much about the new album. If, say, The Tube Network (basically what MTV used to be) started playing it, you could garner a larger fan base. Then again, I know nothing about marketing. |
