I had to review the Marvelous Things EP for the radio station where i work. I noticed that Mike Mogis (of Saddle-Creek) was cited in the Thank You's for the album. This music doesnt really come off sounding like his thing, so i was just curious about his connection to Eisley. Also, why bring The Flaming Lips into it? |

Hmm, i would be surprised (and in a bad way) if this were true, but perhaps it is. Another question: alot of the pics in the image gallery made me wonder: Are these kids really sXe, or are they just mocking it? They dont seem to be doing either very effectively. Again, thanks for your help while i write this piece. |

Hey Trav... Is there something specific you want answered? Your tone seems synical in writing, but I don't want to assume that, so I would be glad to help you find the answers you need. Just email me, or "pm". Thanks, k P.S. trav asked: Quote: Are these kids really sXe, or are they just mocking it? They dont seem to be doing either very effectively. What a compliment! They aren't trying to be "sXe", or anything else, but just who they are. These "kids" by the way are 22, 20, 20, 17, & 15. Not sure what you were hoping for, or what you "wanted" them to be. They aren't striving to be Jessica Simpson or Britney Spears. Just a family that grew up together, like each other, and happen to play really cool, and creative music together. If the world can handle that without them taking off their clothes to be noticed, than that's cool. If not, then, they are still a family at the end, that will always have music between them. |

I would also just like to add that Mike Mogis is a person that I truly respect and look up to in the music business and his work never ceases to amaze me. And the same thing can be said about Eisley... so I was quite pleased to see that they had worked together because it only seems fitting! _________________ thanks to the works of stephen colbert, the population of elephants has tripled in the past 10 years. |

I apologize, I think i may have been misunderstood. "sXe" is just short hand for Straight Edge, a sub culture of indie or punk music that is associated primarily with abstaining from any mind altering substance in order to retain clearity. Alot of hardcore or post-(fill in the blank) musicians ascribe to this method, and often intergrate its themes into their lyrics. The pictures in the gallery featured the band, all with X's on each fist, and arms crossed. This is a sort of cliche straight-edge sign. I was simply wondering whether or not Eisley really was straight edge or whether the picture was just a joke. Sorry for the confusion. |

hey Trav, nope. no straight edge.... those were X's given from at a club - making sure everyone know's they're minors and can't drink. They took that photo for fun. Values-wise, I imagine that there is much that overlaps. There aren't any smokers drinkers in the bunch. But it's not something they wear as a creedo or flag. Mike Mogis - yes. a great guy...loves their music; did a great job. I don't think he had the time he needed. More mixing could have given him an edge over other releases on the ep. Stuff recorded nobody has heard has special moments that need to be revisited... or payed attention to by future producers. _________________ EisleyWebGuy "The industrialists never saw the fruit of their own labor - Post Moderism, which I now proclaim as dead.
