I can appreciate it, but it's not what I'm into.

Not too into them.. picked up their new CD on impulse... its definitely an album more geared to live (seeing as how they like to improvise).

As for their old stuff... I really like the song, "The Widow." It definitely doesn't fit in with all the other stuff I heard.. which in most cases is a good thing.

I picked up the first album as a result of this thread and I loved it!

I think I heard a bit of another album before (maybe the second to last one?) and wasn't quite feeling it. If I tried it again, maybe I would? The next one I plan to pick up is the newest.

I think it's a little more tangible than the rest. If I had to pick one to listen to, I'd pick the first. I have the second one, too ... but it utterly failed to move me overall. So I'm the wrong person to finish that. Laughing

The Mars Volta are probably my favorite band overall. I just remember back in 2003 when I first heard De-Loused. It challenged what I thought I could appreciate in music. It's still probably my favorite album of all time.

The thing about TMV though, is they're very difficult. Even as big of a fan as I am, with every new album, I have to listen to it a few times before it really settles in. There's just so much going on, it's always so hard to grasp. Once I do get into it though, I can't take it out of my cd player.

Bedlam is really growing on me. Particularly Ilyena and Ouroborous.
