Wow are you all serious? Geeze, I seriously thought I was the only one. I agree that it's very uncommon for people to not know how to swim. It's like those things your parents sign you up for when you are a kid like baseball or basketball. Well this summer my friend is house sitting this house for five weeks and there's a pool so he's going to try and teach me how to swim before we invite people for future parties. This will probably be my third attempt to learn how to swim. Oh well. In the meantime, I'll focus on school. |

I have a friend who can teach me, and I will probably take her up on it during summer. ha ha. _________________ My photography:www.jamiemphoto.com You can't spell awesome without emo...backwards! -Julie definingawesome (11:44:11 PM): Eisley shivers our timbers |

I can swim, but not very gracefully. I'm an expert at the doggy paddle. _________________ www.kailahandler.bandcamp.com |

this lot seems to be missing the point of the original thread, unless I skipped something, can Stacy swim? Its quite important to know really, cos like if someone wanted to like hold Eisley hostage, or specifically Stacy, they could just keep her on an island (obviously a small one and not one, say the size of the UK) and she could not escape... Where the heck do you people dig up these facts? I thought just listening to the music and reading Boyds snippets of facts and ramblings was enough!! ok now I just look or sound a little weird. Swimming eh, its easy man, easy, kick ye legs and flap ye arms, and don't breath when your mouths below the water line. _________________ "A mathematician is a blind man in a dark room looking for a black cat which isn't there." - Charles Darwin (legend) |

I'm shocked. Swimming feels so natural. I learned how to when I was just a few months, and had it mastered at like 2. My mom was a diver, and my dad an avid surfer so I guess that helped. Plus, I grew up on a lagoon and have always lived blocks from the beach. so I guess I somewhat understand since most of you are stuck in like Texas. That sucks though, you're missing out in a big way! _________________ Albert Camus wrote: Always go too far, because that's where you'll find the truth. |

Haha, don't feel bad guys. I took lessons year-round for almost ten years and I still can't swim. Well, not very well. It takes a lot of effort to keep my head above the water...haha. _________________ **Dear, did you know that people love each other** **Just like we do?** |

i was afraid of the deep end until junior high or so. with my neighbor inviting me over for swims now and then i finally realized being 6 feet plus tall how little effort it takes to get back to air if i'm standing with my feet on the bottom of the pool. then i was fine. i don't know about long distances or anything, most of my swimming has been done in confined pools. now in the middle of a lake or the ocean with no life jacket and where i can't see the bottom, i would be a bit freaked out i think. _________________ I am Torgo. I was once in the middle of a (small) lake, my friend and I were swimming across it, when a thunder storm came out of nowhere and lightning was within a mile of us. I was a bit freaked out, I don't think I've ever swam faster than I did that day. I'm not sure if it's true that if lightning strikes a lake everything in it will get electrocuted, but I was in no position to question whether or not it's true. Haha, that reminds me of another scary (for me) situation that involved lightning and a lake. I was in the middle of another lake in an all medal canoe when the same thing happened, lightning came out of nowhere. I was so freaked out, I paddled that thing a little bit, then just decided to jump and leave it in the middle. |
