Yeah, I think I would go to that one a lot. To say the least. Very Happy

Eisley and the Swell Season would be a good bill too, as far as musicality and audience. But sans the movie buzz, I don't know if they'll be able to keep their draw up.

^I met the Swell Season on the Drag during ACL. When I spotted them, I lost feeling my hands... which really surprised me. I think it's because they won an Oscar. LOL.

Haha, yeah! I was like, "I saw you on TV with Colin Farrell!" It's was kind of a *face-palm* moment.

How about Eisley and The Frames, then?

^ Musically that would be good, but I'm not sure if the Frames have the same name recognition and draw at this point as the Swell Season, since their supporting tour for Once during and after Oscar season was under that name. I guess it's all Semantics and branding huh?

i haven't heard of either of these two bands.

if they toured with She and Him i guess you'd get some solo M Ward stuff as well.

^ Have you seen Once.

The two leads in that film did a record together and that is the name of the Album/ Band - The Swell Season.

Glen Hansard, the male lead in once, has a band, which is the Frames they've been around since the late 80's or early 90's. Never made too much of a dent in the US to my knowledge.

And tragically so, because they're awesome.

They are one of those groups that is hurt by the size of the catalog. I had a friend who I hipped to Once, and he immediately wanted to track down everything they'd done, which is nearly 10 records or so... and a lot aren't domestically available cause they are either Out of Print, or never issued in the US. I stopped short of that and put them on the backburner list with a few other big catalog bands that I got into too late. And I'm not a big file sharer, although I do make the most of my public libraries.

At one point I thought about starting a Magazine that just covered passed over bands that just didn't get their due called Critic's Darling and I slowly realized that it would be the most depressing thing to do ever, because you would still have to pass over acts, and be exposed to so much that the reality of how trivial and daunting the numbers game is.

On the flipside, it's a buyer's market and in this day an age a person can find a style or sound they like, and there will be a number of people out there doing credible variations of it. That is a perk we didn't have years ago, so there's a trade off to having a very open, but commercially floundering music industry. Now there is legitimately a chance your favorite band ever could be a neighbor with garage band or pro-tools cause , with talent and time, they can put together a project that is as Hi-Fi or quirkily low-fi as anything you can find on the shelves, or mp3 store. We're gonna run out of day jobs though, cause everybody's gonna need one at this rate.

I saw Cloverfield two months ago, and Twilight is completely off my radar, so you got a leg up on me, so what's your excuse? ( I kid, I kid...)

Really though, it's a good movie, whimsical and sentimental, with a lot of good music and unconventional in its own, "how can we avoid being sappy and saccharine?" way.
