So, I heard the original version of 'telescope eyes.' It's an order of magnitude better than the Laughing City version. The extra verses, how the hook comes farther into the song, the simpler production. Especially the extra verses, that give the song a whole lot more meaning. Why was it changed so much? It's hard to listen to the final version, now that I know what I'm missing. _________________ We are not afraid of ruins. i have thought on this often the only thing they did wrong was take out "dear mathew, why cant you see" simply because i love how she sings "your just not near enough like me" but it is still to die for _________________ "Let's play chickenball!" http://www.myspace.com/near_harad |

For now, they're all on the website under songs. You can download healthy mp3's. Why were they changed? Thank John Goodmanson - producer for the random deletion to make it radioworthy. It was the band's first ep. Eisley was a little more timid than they are now. And Rob is a different producer. He's an advocate of the band. boyd _________________ EisleyWebGuy "The industrialists never saw the fruit of their own labor - Post Moderism, which I now proclaim as dead. I liked the older version cuz it was longer, darker, and had some cool melodies. It just sounded so much more eerie to me than the EP version. I like that. You can tell how those instrumental parts morphed and developed though to the EP version. The original's sounded a little underdeveloped compared to the new. I like the original more. Its the more bettererest of the 2(yes that was intentional _________________ Its all in the making. Its all yet to be. Its all leading up to your true destiny. |

Ugh. I really hate the idea of changing things to be 'radio-friendly.' It's one thing to add polish, but removing lyrics is just wrong. Not that the final version's bad. Yeah, I'll probably never get to see Eisley live, but I'd definitely recommend at least performing the extra verses. _________________ We are not afraid of ruins. There are a lot of radio stations that will play something if it's good. "Bohemian Rhapsody" was a single. I'm afraid I don't really understand the term "radio friendly". It seems like an arbitrary way for the execs to hedge their bets. There should be a focus on making the song good. If that means making the song shorter, so be it. But if the song is great at-length, leave it be. _________________ Scriptozoology, a screenwriting blog .. Facebook |

agree with all. so does the band. and, yes....very often, they played the old version in rebellion. They don't like the new version really. Don't worry about radio play pressure any more. _________________ EisleyWebGuy "The industrialists never saw the fruit of their own labor - Post Moderism, which I now proclaim as dead.
