Most recording companys want to put their foot in the water with an artist befor they dive right in there just preparing them for bigger and better things. |

Steve Taylor's first record (I want to be a clone) was a 6 song EP. He said they did it that way at first to "test the water", then after the amazing response to the albumn, went on to bigger and better things. _________________ This space intentionally left blank. |

Actually, LP's are generally shorter (standing for Limited Play) and historically EP's were longer (standing for Extended Play). When these terms were originally used, you'd by an LP for 2-3 songs, and EP for 5-6 songs, and somewhere down the line the artist would release a "box set" that was called an album. For quite sometime, the only way to get music was to buy them in the shorter (by todays standards) releases. Back then a 3 minute song was also considered average, today the average song is closer to 5 minutes. _________________

wow! how did you know all that? im impressed... most of the bands i listen to have songs that are an average of 6 or 7 minutes... some songs are about 20... ahh that post modern rock!

That is so cool! im thinking of being a music major. but i would major in classical composition or theory... something like that... i want to be mozart... but its not working too well...
