Mall-punk kids going for slightly fairy-tale lyrics sung by girls who aren't rocking? Sorry, I just can't see the audience liking that at all. the only way these really, really extreme bills work is if the headlining band is known for being weird, different or genre-defying and having an audience that expects as much. That's why Red Hot Chili Peppers can take Blonde Redhead out and it be a good opportunity for them, that's why Skid Row taking Nine Inch Nails out as an opening act or Nirvana taking Shonen Knife out as an opening act or The Who having the Clash as an opening act were disasters.

NFG fans--this isn't a dis at you, if that's the kind of thing you like, then hey, that's great. But for teenage kids crunk on caffeine and adrenalin and the energy of the pit, Eisley would just be a buzzkill, and as 'this is punk rock' they would probably have no problems letting Eisley know they were a boring buzzkill for them.

in NFG's favour - they DID do a 'neverending story' cover.

but they're just not the same sort of people. i really don't think the majority of NFG fans would be able to appreciate a band that's all about beautiful magical things

Sad poo-poo to NFG and Eisley.

let me first say that i am a fan of new found glory (nothing gold can stay is such a good album).

but just because i like nfg, and just because i like eisley, doesn't mean that i want to see them together. the mood would be entirely different.

people going to see new found glory would be all set for energy, moshing, and loud, fast music. now, when eisley walks onto the stage and plays the first notes of mr. pine, i don't think the audience will want to hear it. i'm not saying that they'd be incapable of liking it, but that transition from the loud, fast music (which they were probably listening to prior to the show) to eisley would be awful.

this goes for people going to see eisley as well.

i really don't think that an eisley/nfg tour would be that great. and a half hour set would not be long enough. especially for them to support their album.

so those are my thoughts.

xoxo conor

This is my opinion: If Eisley likes NFG- go for it. If Eisley doesn't like NFG- is it really worth it?

I'm posting to say i'm not posting about this topic.. think about it. none of us can make them tour or not tour. so who cares. I mean i don't know about you but if my band could even tour with new kids on the block i would do it..that would be so awesome.. man.. dreams..

Uh...why don't we ask Newfound Glory fans on the NFG boards what they think of this?

I signed up at the NFG community and made a thread there about the possible tour with Eisley ... haven't gotten any responses yet and am not sure if I will, but I guess it's worth a try.

I think we're more worried about the atmosphere, than anything else. If Eisley opens for NFG, they'll pick up a few fans on the way, at the least. But, I think Eisley has a certain image...that artistic, homey, mystical type feel that we are afraid of mixing with the mainstream scene. We've created a family within here, and I think we are a bit aprehensive of who 'we' (although we have no control over it) expose the band to.

Music is a big indicator of the people we meet in life. Really (I've thought a lot about this) if you're into the same music, you can be great friends. I can't imagine not liking anyone that is a fan of Eisley. As far as I know, if you like Eisley, I love you. Done and done.

But, you start thinking about other genres and the type of people that listen to that music and its just a whole new territory of people and opinions and views. If they like Eisley, how will they translate that to other people. If they dont, same question.

It's like music racism, I guess, lol. We're scared of those types of people being integrated into our 'laughing city'.

exactly! I'm getting really tired of people saying stuff like that. NFG are sugar coated pop punk music,, its a fade in the music industry much like the rap rock of the mid-late ninites. If Eisley were around back then it would be like them going on tour with Limp Bizkit or Crazy Town.

well limp bizkit put out some good stuff at the beginning. Confused

I feel like i gotta add, I'm scared i started something thats going in the wrong direction... We gotta remember, its really only about what the band wants. We can't pigeonhole eisley to be the embodiment of OUR musical tastes.

its just my opinion that WB could do better by pairing eisley up with something other than NFG.

I agree with Mister Joseph's point, which is not that Eisley are too good for NFG or that NFG suck or whatever, but rather that people who are going to this concert will most very likely NOT be receptive to eisley's music, which will lead to the band not picking up a substantial number of fans and in the process not having a good time either on tour since they will be out of their element and likely heckled on a regular basis. Why will this inevitably be the case? Because NFG, no matter how melodious they are or whatever, are ultimately a Punk band, and people who go to high energy punk concerts aren't in the mood to listen to bedtime story style eisley before the main event. it's that simple and clear. And this is why i support the person that made this thread - we the fans should express how ridiculous of an idea we think this is, because eisley and even boyd and fam are in an alternate reality to some extent because they are the people at the wheel of a car where the person in the passenger's seat (WB) is a profit motivated bully that is for the most part uninterested in eisley's vision panning out at least to the extent that it conflcts with their vision for economic exploitation. . Saying that a person wont get a certian type of music just by a demographic standpoint is underestimating the power of the human brain.

its like watching your shy pretty dauhter date one of the most popular guys in school but hes a jerk..

its like, well good for her that such a popular person notices her (her being eisley and him being nfg or big crappy bands in general) but she deserves better..

i get that people want to see eisley tour with a big band in mass crowds, but this isnt the way. there's numerous bands that draw huge crowds that fit eisley a million and a half times better than nfg, the band who opened for blink182 and crap..yuck.

eisley just does not belong on that tour

okay, how about this for a compromise:
eisley can do the nfg tour and get the whole arena exposure and whatever. however, they need to have a day off either immediately before or immediately after their show in d.c. (which would probably be at the patriot center) and andew and i will book them a show at wmuc, which is basically a d.i.y. space that holds about 100 people. sound good?

I'm not a big fan of nfg, and Eisley is deffinately too good to go on tour with them. It wouldn't be fair to NFG.

*cough* Eisley and Red Hot Chili Peppers *Cough*
I know that it would never happen, but if it did, im pretty sure I'd pee my pants.
